Glare is light, purely and simply. The more intense that light is the greater the glare. The most effective way to reduce glare within a home or office is to install solar control film to your windows. In effect it’s like having sunglasses on you windows.
We are often asked if we can reduce glare without losing any natural light, however this is impossible as to reduce glare you would need to darken your windows to some degree. You wouldn’t ask for clear sunglasses in Boots would you?
Reducing glare through windows is about finding the right balance between allowing some degree of natural light while diffusing the glare to a comfortable level.
Window film comes with varying light transmissions the darkest being 5% meaning that it will reduce glare by 95% so quite dark.
For a residential property we would normally recommend a 20% film (80% glare reduction) or a 35% film (65% glare reduction).
Both these films would additionally give you some degree of daytime privacy and varying heat reduction benefits depending on which film is selected.
