When the Moorbrook Inn just across town from our Preston head office suffered a vandal attack it seemed that one of the pub’s period features may be lost forever. The acid etched glass window thought to be around 150 years old was damaged beyond repair however help was at hand. The owners of the Moorbrook Inn, possibly the oldest public house in Preston were recommended to seek advice from Lustalux and our graphics department were happy to be of assistance.

The first challenge was to replicate as close as possible the intricate design of the original window. Using photographs one of our designers Chris went to work using graphics software and painstakingly created a design in the classic Victorian saloon style with elaborate text and scrolls typical of that period.

The next process was to plotter cut the design from one of our high quality etch effect vinyls, in this case Metamark Silver Etch which gives a higher level of opacity than a standard etched film. The vinyl was then applied to the clear glass pane on location at the Moorbrook Inn by two of our experienced window graphics installers. As you can see the final product is as near perfect to an original “acid etched” window design you can get.

Lustalux has many years expertise in designing and applying all types of vinyl graphics. These can range from simple rows of circles for health and safety reasons known as manifestation to intricate designs as illustrated above.
We can either plotter cut designs from any one of hundreds of coloured vinyls available or we can print designs, images and photographs onto opaque, coloured or clear vinyls and window film.
