When Cherry Tree House Care Home in Romiley near Stockport required wall graphics and murals to create a soothing atmosphere for the elderly and for Alzheimer’s sufferers, Lustalux was delighted to be of assistance.
Research has shown that dementia and Alzheimer’s sufferers can respond positively to particular types of decor and that the importance of creating the correct type of environment using familiar images cannot be underestimated. Memories are extremely important in elderly care. These can often be stimulated by displaying scenes and vistas that automatically trigger feelings of comfort and well-being.
Cherry Tree House chose several images including local Stockport street scenes, a garden and a Lake District panorama which we then printed and laminated on to specialist wall vinyl using our wide format HP and Mimaki printers. Our experienced installation team then applied the murals to various walls around the care home with stunning results.
In addition to the wall murals we also created a homely feel to the doors of the resident’s rooms by “wrapping” them in vinyl, printed by Lustalux to look like authentic house doors with knockers and letter boxes. Just another creative way of providing comfort and familiarity.
