What started off as a routine enquiry for window graphics and manifestation, resulted in Lustalux assisting the main contractors for a large school project with a varied range of our products and services.
The contractors were working on behalf of Withington Girls School in Manchester building an extension to the sports hall including offices, changing rooms, toilets, cafe and lobby area.
Our original brief was to manufacture and install a series of etch effect vinyl graphics to various areas of glazing around the site. These constituted manifestation incorporating the school crest to comply with building regulations, horizontal frosted bands and solid frosted panels for security and privacy. Fairly basic fare in the grand scheme of things and the type of work we carry out on a daily basis, yet a vitally important task, usually coming towards the end of most commercial construction projects.
As many of our clients now know, Lustalux is an approved installer of several ranges of Architectural Wrapping Films. We can change the look and even the texture of most smooth surfaces with one cost effective application. It just so happened that in this instance we were asked if we could change to colour of a large air conditioning unit situated on the roof of one of the school buildings. We duly obliged by “wrapping” the grey AC unit with a gloss black vinyl from our Avery Dennison Façade external range. Another fairly routine yet specialist task achieved but with a very effective outcome.

Our final task at the school was this time not run of the mill stuff but to manufacture and install some striking bespoke signage. In addition to sets of Individual flat-cut brushed finish marine grade stainless steel letters depicting the school’s name and crest, we provided three giant size perforated aluminium silhouette figures representing hockey, athletics and tennis. An original and stunning facade to the exterior of the new building.
