Sometimes called fluted glass, our reeded window film replicates the beautiful, textured stripe finish of traditional molded glass panes. Designed with vertical flutes running side by side, this premium vinyl bends and refracts light as it passes through the window, successfully obscuring visibility without sacrificing a drop of natural daylight.

The reeded film rolls are available in four convenient widths—19.6-inch, 30-inch, 39-inch and 60-inch (50cm, 76cm, 100cm and 152cm) — and feature two distinct flute options: our wide 1/2-inch pattern or a tighter 1/4-inch design for extra distortion. Can you see Through Reeded Window Film?

No, you cannot clearly see through fluted glass film. The engineered vertical flutes work by refracting and distorting shapes, movements, and profiles, making it virtually impossible for anyone to identify interior details, faces, or specific furniture pieces from the outside.

If a person stands directly against the glass, an observer might see a heavily blurred silhouette of their profile. However, once they step back just a slight distance into the room, they completely disappear from view. This makes it an ideal bathroom privacy film, offering absolute discretion while allowing an abundance of natural daylight to pass through the glass freely.

Does Reeded Glass Film let in less Light?

Not at all. The primary advantage of our standard clear reeded privacy film is that it blocks visibility without reducing natural sunlight. The vertically structured flutes safely bend and refract the incoming sunbeams rather than restricting them, allowing your room to stay completely brightened up and welcoming throughout the day.

Please note: If you choose to install our darker coloured reeded films, the deeper tinted hues will naturally filter out a portion of the incoming light to reduce glare and enhance privacy. However, our classic clear reeded option offers the perfect balance of excellent day-and-night obscurity alongside maximum daylight transmission.

How Durable is Fluted Glass Film?

Fluted film is a highly durable product that offers a lengthy lifespan. As long as the window is cleaned thoroughly before installation, and the reeded film is installed internally there is no reason as to why your film won’t last many years. At Lustalux, we are that confident in our ribbed glass film, that we provide a 10 year warranty for film installed internally.

How do you Clean Reeded Glass Film?

To clean your ribbed film safely, all you need is a soft microfibre cloth or sponge, mild soapy water, and a soft dry towel. It is important to avoid using excessive amounts of water during maintenance; if too much moisture pooling occurs along the edges, it can rarely weaken the adhesive bond and cause the vinyl to peel.

We highly recommend using a fine mist spray bottle or a lightly damp sponge, wiping smoothly from the centre of the pane outwards while paying extra attention to the corners. To finish, use your dry towel in gentle patting motions to ensure the window sticker is completely dry and free from residual streaks. Never use abrasive scrubbers, harsh chemical solvents, or heavy squeegees on the film surface.
