Window film, set graphics & signage for film and TV productions
When the set needs to look right on camera, the finish matters. Lustalux works with production teams, art departments and creative agencies to create bespoke window films, glass effects, graphics, signage and architectural finishes for film, television, commercials and professional shoots across the UK.
From a precise coloured reeded glass effect to privacy film, set signage or a complete surface transformation, we help turn the creative brief into something practical, repeatable and ready for production. London is a major production market — see production finishes across London. We do not claim particular London studios unless we have worked there.

Made for art departments, sets and locations
Production requirements are different from ordinary commercial installations. Colours are judged under controlled lighting. Materials may need to work across multiple panels. Locations sometimes have to be transformed without permanent alterations. And deadlines are fixed by the shoot—not by the supplier.
Our role is to understand the visual outcome first, then recommend a film, graphic, sign or architectural finish that gets as close as practically possible to that brief.

Architectural surface film
Change the appearance of doors, counters, panels, walls, joinery and other suitable surfaces without manufacturing an entirely new set element.
View serviceCreate the glass the scene needs
Glass has a disproportionate effect on the way a set looks on camera. A modern clear pane can immediately feel wrong for the environment being created, while replacing it with specialist decorative glazing can add cost, weight and production time.
Film allows an existing glass panel or fabricated flat-glass set piece to be given a completely different appearance — set design window film specified around the scene rather than around a catalogue of stock tints.

Reeded / fluted glass
Vertical distortion and texture without manufacturing traditional ribbed glazing.
Reeded window film
Bespoke coloured reeded
Specify a particular creative palette or brand colour and combine it with the fluted appearance.
Coloured reeded film
Frosted / etched
Diffuse visibility while retaining a believable translucent-glass finish.
Privacy window film
Coloured & tinted
Change the colour character of glazing to work with the production palette.
Custom colour film
Dichroic
Create shifting colours as lighting, camera or viewing position changes.
Dichroic reeded film
Branded / printed glass
Incorporate logos, text, graphics or other production artwork.
Glass graphicsColour-critical work
Specify colour for the environment it will be filmed in
A colour seen on a monitor is not automatically the same colour that will be perceived once printed onto a transparent material, applied to glass and viewed under set lighting. Ambient light, transmitted light, artificial lighting, viewing angle and camera settings can all influence the finished appearance.
For colour-critical work, build sampling and approval into the project where appropriate. A HEX value, brand palette, artwork or visual reference can provide the starting point, with the final specification considered against the intended production environment. See bespoke film for production sets for HEX matching, gradients and coloured reeded treatments.

Custom coloured reeded film for Swarovski
A production case study — not a mixed-industry project carousel.

Production case study
Campaign colour, reeded texture, tight programme
For Swarovski's Holiday 2024 advertising campaign featuring Ariana Grande, the production required a bespoke reeded glass appearance in a colourway aligned with the campaign's visual direction.
Lustalux developed and supplied the coloured reeded treatment for the studio set, with colour considered against the campaign palette and lighting and consistency maintained across the individual panels. The project was delivered around a particularly tight production schedule, with a 48-hour turnaround on this specific project.

The same materials used to transform film and TV sets can create distinctive campaign environments and photoshoot backdrops. Coloured glazing, gradients, reeded effects, dichroic finishes, branded glass and custom graphics can become part of the composition rather than simply dressing the room around it.

Signage and graphics that belong in the scene
A sign visible on camera cannot feel like an afterthought. Lustalux designs, produces and installs production signage and graphics around the brief — from constructed shopfronts to unit-base wayfinding.
On-camera signage
Made as part of the set and visual environment.
- Shopfront signs for constructed sets
- Reception branding
- Window lettering
- Logos
- Door signs
- Printed graphics
- Wall graphics
- Illuminated features
Production signage
Directional, safety, unit-base or operational signage supporting the production itself.
- Directional signage
- Temporary branding
- Production wayfinding away from camera
Explore illuminated and LED signage when the set needs lit lettering or branded light features.

Change the surface without rebuilding it
Architectural film can change the appearance of an existing set element or location surface without stripping it out and manufacturing a replacement. Depending on the substrate and specification, doors, furniture, counters, panels and joinery can be given new colours, textures and material effects — including wood, stone, metal and solid-colour appearances from the architectural film catalogue.

Privacy behind the camera
Not every production finish is for the lens. Green rooms, dressing rooms, production offices and street-facing studios often need privacy window film specified to the required visibility level — frosted, opaque, blackout, decorative privacy, or one-way where lighting conditions make it suitable.

Film and TV production FAQs
Can you create custom window film for a film or TV set?
Yes. Production briefs can include bespoke colour, reeded or fluted appearances, frosted and tinted glass effects, printed graphics, logos and typography. The starting point is the visual outcome on camera, then a film, graphic or sign specification that can be applied to suitable flat glazing or set panels.
Can you match a film to a specific colour or HEX code?
A HEX value, brand palette, artwork or visual reference can form the basis of the colour brief. Colour on a monitor is not automatically the same once it is on a transparent material, applied to glass and viewed under set lighting, so sampling against the intended environment is recommended where colour is critical.
Can you create reeded or fluted glass effects without using real reeded glass?
Yes. Reeded window film applied to suitable flat glazing or fabricated glass set pieces recreates the vertically ribbed appearance without commissioning traditional ribbed glass. That is often faster and more practical for sets than manufacturing specialist glazing for every panel. See reeded window film.
Can you create gradient window film?
Yes, where the brief calls for it. Gradients and multi-tone treatments can be developed as part of a bespoke coloured reeded or decorative film specification, particularly for photoshoots, advertising sets and feature glazing. See bespoke coloured reeded window film.
Can you put logos, graphics or text onto glass?
Yes. Logos, typography and graphics can be incorporated into window film, glass manifestation and other glazed treatments so the glass carries the artwork rather than acting only as a privacy screen. Lustalux specifies this around the production brief rather than as generic graphic-prop making.
Can you work to film and TV production deadlines?
Production dates should be supplied at enquiry stage. Lustalux will advise what is achievable against the programme. Turnaround is planned around the shoot — it is not a blanket 24- or 48-hour service. Where a specific project has required an unusually fast delivery, that belongs to that project, not to every enquiry.
Is window film removable after filming?
It depends on the product and how it was specified. Many films can be professionally removed from suitable glass, but not every film is designed as a temporary, residue-free dressing. If removability matters for a location or a reusable set piece, say so at briefing so the specification can take that into account.
Can you install at studios and filming locations around the UK?
Yes. Lustalux provides nationwide coverage across the UK, including London commercial sites, with installation teams mobilised from Manchester, Coventry, Scotland and Preston.
Can you help select a finish that will work with our lighting?
Yes, as part of specification. Ambient light, transmitted light, artificial lighting, viewing angle and camera settings all affect how a finish is perceived. For colour-critical or unusual treatments we recommend sampling against the intended lighting rather than approving from a screen alone. Lustalux specifies materials; cinematography remains with the production team.
Need something ready for a production date?
Send us as much of the brief as you have. Even if the final design is still being developed, the information below will help us identify the right route quickly. Artwork and photos can be described in the enquiry or sent once we are in contact — the current form does not accept file uploads.
