Window film, signage & surface finishes for offices

Modern workplaces ask a lot from glass and interior finishes. Meeting rooms need privacy without becoming dark. Large windows can create heat and screen glare. Glass partitions need to remain visible and safe. Reception spaces need to communicate the brand, and tired surfaces often need refreshing without the disruption of a full refit.

Lustalux brings office window film, glass graphics, signage and architectural finishes together in one commercial service — from a single meeting room to nationwide workplace rollouts.

What does your workplace need to solve?

Window film, signage and architectural finishes for better-performing workplaces — specified around the problem, not a catalogue of unrelated products.

Privacy without closing the office off

Modern office layouts use large amounts of internal glazing because it helps light move through the floorplate and keeps spaces visually open. Unrestricted visibility is not appropriate everywhere — people can see into the HR meeting room, the boardroom, or a street-facing office.

Office privacy film lets you control visibility through meeting rooms, offices, pods and glass partitions without unnecessarily sacrificing daylight.

Frosted privacy film

A clean etched or frosted effect for consistent privacy while retaining diffuse light.

Part-height privacy

Bands, gradients or selective coverage where complete floor-to-ceiling obscuration is not necessary.

Reeded / fluted privacy

An architectural alternative that distorts direct views and adds visual texture to partitions.

Branded privacy

Combine frosting with logos, patterns, typography or other design elements.

One-way privacy

Available where the lighting relationship makes reflective privacy appropriate. It is not 24/7 privacy.

See also reeded window film for offices and bespoke coloured reeded film when the partition needs to be a design feature as well as a privacy screen.

Privacy and branding for office pods

Glazed meeting pods, phone booths and focus rooms have to balance privacy, visibility, natural light, manifestation, room identification and branding. Repeatable film specifications can be developed for repeated pod types or multi-site installations.

This is equally relevant to pod manufacturers, office furniture suppliers, workplace designers and fit-out contractors specifying a consistent finish.

Make glass visible without treating manifestation as an afterthought

Large transparent glass doors and screens can be difficult to perceive. Where manifestation is required, it does not need to consist solely of generic dots or squares. Compliance requirements can often become a design opportunity.

We can help specify office glass manifestation appropriate to the glazing, location and project requirements. In England, Approved Document K is the relevant Building Regulations guidance around manifestation of glazing. Because Lustalux works UK-wide, the project's location determines the final specification.

One glass treatment can do more than one job

A meeting-room partition does not necessarily need three unrelated treatments for privacy, glazing visibility and branding. A well-designed film scheme can sometimes combine several objectives within one cohesive visual treatment.

Whether a particular design satisfies the applicable visibility requirements must be checked as part of the specification. Decorative treatment does not automatically satisfy every requirement.

  • Corporate colours incorporated into partition designs

Turn plain partitions into a design feature

Reeded window film gives suitable existing flat glass a fluted appearance without replacing the glazing. It provides visual privacy, retains natural light, and is a smaller intervention than replacing glass purely for aesthetics.

For brand-led partitions, coloured reeded window film can take a HEX reference or campaign colour and combine it with the same ribbed texture.

Make heavily glazed offices more comfortable

Modern commercial glazing can create heat, glare on monitors and uneven comfort across the office. Office solar control window film can be retrofitted to suitable existing glazing to manage solar performance without automatically replacing the windows. It helps create a more comfortable working environment and can reduce distracting screen glare.

  • Excessive solar heat gain

  • Glare on monitors

  • Hot zones beside windows

  • Uneven comfort across the floorplate

  • UV-related fading of furnishings

  • Increased demand on cooling systems

Heat reduction

Reduce unwanted solar gain.

Glare reduction

Refresh the office without replacing everything

When existing doors, counters, furniture or panels remain structurally suitable but the finish is dated or damaged, replacement is not always the only option. Architectural film for office interiors can be applied to suitable substrates to create a new decorative finish.

Retaining and resurfacing a structurally suitable door, desk or panel can avoid removing and replacing that item solely because its appearance is dated. That means less strip-out, less replacement material and less disruption — and it can suit phased refurbishment. Wood, stone, metal, concrete, solid-colour and textured appearances are available from the catalogue; the substrate and finish should be assessed before specification.

Headquarters case study

The English Football League

When the EFL moved to new premises on Fishergate Hill in Preston, Lustalux supplied and installed illuminated stainless-steel branding, internal and external information signs, door signs, glazing manifestation, window graphics, solar-control window film and privacy film — and obtained planning permission for the illuminated and free-standing external signs.

It is a practical example of combining glass, graphics and signage around one workplace brief rather than splitting the finishing package across unrelated suppliers.

Office window film and signage FAQs

What is the best window film for office privacy?

It depends on whether the glass is internal or external, and whether privacy is needed constantly or only under particular lighting. Frosted and reeded films are typically used for meeting rooms and partitions because they obscure the view while still transmitting diffuse light. Reflective one-way films can be appropriate on external glazing where the lighting relationship supports them, but they are not a round-the-clock privacy solution. See privacy window film.

Can window film provide privacy without making meeting rooms dark?

Yes. Frosted, reeded and other translucent films obscure direct views while still allowing light through. They are not the same as blackout. There is some reduction in transmitted light compared with untreated clear glass, but meeting rooms can remain bright rather than boxed in.

Can you apply privacy film to office pods and glass partitions?

Yes, subject to suitable glazing. Meeting pods, phone booths, focus rooms and partition systems can take frosted bands, reeded film, gradients, logos or manifestation graphics. Repeatable specifications can be developed where the same pod type is used across a floor or several sites.

Can office window film include our logo or branding?

Yes. Custom-cut and printed glass treatments can incorporate logos, patterns, typography and room names. Branding can sit within a privacy or manifestation scheme rather than as a separate layer, provided the finished design is checked against the project's visibility requirements.

Does office glass need manifestation?

Certain transparent glazing in relevant locations may need to be made apparent under applicable building and workplace requirements. Whether a particular pane requires manifestation depends on the glazing, location and circumstances — it is not the case that all office glass automatically needs it. In England, Approved Document K is the relevant Building Regulations guidance around manifestation of glazing; projects elsewhere in the UK should be specified against the rules that apply there. Lustalux can help specify an appropriate treatment.

Can manifestation use our company logo?

Yes. Branded and decorative designs are often possible, provided the finished scheme meets the applicable visibility and specification requirements. A logo or pattern does not automatically satisfy every requirement, so that check belongs in the specification.

Can window film reduce heat and glare in an office?

Yes. Solar-control window film can be retrofitted to suitable existing glazing to reduce unwanted solar gain and distracting screen glare, and to help limit UV-related fading of interiors. The right specification depends on the glass, orientation and acceptable change in appearance. See commercial solar control.

Can you refurbish office doors and desks without replacing them?

Where the substrate remains structurally suitable, architectural film can create a new decorative finish on doors, desks, counters, panels and joinery. Wood, stone, metal, concrete, solid-colour and textured appearances are available from the catalogue. The exact substrate and finish should be assessed before specification.

Can installation happen while the office is occupied?

Often, yes. Installations can be phased, floor-by-floor, weekend or out of hours depending on the project and access. Not every job can be undertaken outside working hours. Tell us the operational constraints at enquiry stage and we can plan around the site where practicable.

Can Lustalux manage projects across several offices?

Yes. Lustalux provides nationwide coverage across the UK, with installation teams mobilised from Manchester, Coventry, Scotland and Preston, and commercial delivery across London. Agreed design standards, consistent materials and programmed installations help keep multi-site workplaces aligned.
