Privacy and solar reduction for care homes

Window Film Solutions for Care Homes.

We were asked by a major UK Facilities Management company to provide both privacy and heat and glare control for the windows of a large care home in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

We applied reflective solar-control film to most of the windows in the establishment to provide daytime privacy in bedrooms and communal rooms while reducing solar heat gain, glare and UV through the treated glazing. Reflective privacy depends on the lighting relationship between the two sides and is not a reliable night-time privacy solution on its own.

Heat Control

Suitable solar-control film can reduce solar heat gain and glare through glazing. Actual performance depends on the selected film, the glass and orientation — figures quoted for one product should not be applied universally. Installation is typically clean and can be programmed around an occupied care home. Window film is low-maintenance when cleaned and cared for according to the product guidance; it is not totally maintenance-free.

For care-home privacy and solar-control film, including privacy, solar control and manifestation specified around a live residential care environment, see the residential care sector page.
