Specialist protective film at Glasgow Central Station

Glasgow Central Station houses a large number of retail units, most with glass display windows. A Glasgow-based maintenance company asked Lustalux to apply additional fragment-retention protection to that shopfront glazing inside an operational transport environment.

A clear 200-micron Solar Gard (Saint-Gobain) security film was installed. The work was carried out overnight while the station was largely unoccupied, over approximately one week. That is evidence of programmed live-site working, not a promise of zero disruption on every project.

This project demonstrates specialist glazing protection where the client's security assessment called for it. It is not a claim that the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, often referred to as Martyn's Law, requires security window film, or that the film makes a building compliant with security law. Substantive duties under that Act had not commenced at the time this record was rewritten. Appropriate measures depend on the premises and a competent security assessment. Film does not make glass unbreakable, blast-proof or bomb-proof.
